Brewer order reverses Napolitano’s pro-union move

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday reversed an executive order by former Gov. Janet Napolitano that allowed labor unions to organize state government workers.

Napolitano issued her order in January, shortly before resigning to become U.S. secretary of homeland security in the Barack Obama administration. Her order allowed unions to organize state workers and required state agencies to conduct talks with the unions.

Brewer’s executive order erased that and reaffirmed the state’s right-to-work laws, which do not require any workers to be represented by unions.

Brewer is a Republican who backs the state’s pro-business right-to-work laws. Napolitano, a Democrat, received backing from labor interests during her runs for governor in 2002 and 2006.

It's very frustrating, cuz I would have preferred that DHS was dismantled outright. Now we've got DHS *and* Brewer for a gov.

governor gave up her position, and a Repuke takes over.

the Secretary of State (if elected, and not from succession) takes over the job.

I work for State of Arizona. Its very true. I got an email from SEIU this morning regarding this. Its sad. First we have to take pay cuts(furlough hours) and all probationary employees were laid off, now this. Thanks Jan Brewer. I am sure State employees can't wait until 2010, I know I can't.
