Iran investigates 646 poll complaints

Iran's top legislative body says it is investigating 646 complaints from the three defeated presidential candidates over last week's election.

The powerful Guardian Council said it had invited Mir Hossein Mousavi, Mehdi Karroubi and Mohsen Rezai to a meeting on Saturday to discuss the complaints.

Another key body has raised eyebrows by failing to endorse the election result.

Mr Mousavi has addressed thousands at a rally called to mourn eight protesters killed on Monday, witnesses say.

Mr Mousavi, the leading presidential challenger, had called for the day of mourning and also demanded the release of a growing number of opposition politicians and journalists who have been arrested.

8. Apparently, he resigned from one post but not both...

Stratfor is reporting that Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani, head of the Expediency Council, has resigned. Though unconfirmed, the report is saying that Rafsanjani is resigning from his position as head of the Expediencey Council, NOT his position as the leader of the Assembly of Experts, which has oversight responsibility over the office of the Supreme Leader and would be responsible for naming Ayatollah Khamenei’s successor.

I was wondering how Montazeri was going to prevail without Rafsanjani on the Council of The Wise. I think Rafsanjani's resignation was a very ethical thing for him to do. It appears Rafsanjani is positioning himself to deal with the REAL problem in this.
