In what is believed to be the first such attack,
guerrillas floated a bomb down a river on a palm
log north of Baghdad and detonated it under a
bridge. US engineers were repairing the river
crossing, a link over the Diala river, which carries
traffic between Ba'aqubah and Tikrit, both
hotbeds of resistance.

The military had constructed a pontoon crossing
downriver for use by civilian traffic, but that was
closed as a result of the attack.

Maybe the Americans need to understand that there are people who will fight invaders and occupiers of their country. You know people who fight for independence from colonialism. Does that sound familiar to anyone in our regime?

3. With Saddam's Son's dead, it is safe to fight US - no danger of

bringing Saddam regime back.

Sort of like Nixon picking Spiro Agnew as VP - no one would impeach if the result was Spiro became Pres - but once Spiro was gone - there was no real reason to not follow the investigation to wherever it went.
