Scott McIniss Will NOT Run For the Senate From Colorado

Just announced on KVOR, Colorado Springs.

McPinhead was expected to run for the Senate, but he announced that he will be joining a Denver law firm when he leaves Congress at the end of his term.

9. I live on the western slope and a lot of Repubs down here are mad

at McInnis over his indifference to their concerns. That's one reason why he's staying out, I'm sure. His base isn't terribly loyal to him. As a Dem, I have called his office to complain on his votes several times, as well as for Nighthorse Campbell.

Their staffs never even acknowledged me by at least asking my name or party affiliation. Just an "uh huh" and then a hang up. They don't know I'm a Dem. With that kind of response, even a Republican could get upset.

Anyway, I think Rove has his eye on someone else to run against Salazar, or is hoping the 'right' person will emerge.

I think the Republicans are in trouble. Yippeee!

A lot of news sources for http://warrenctydems.com. To get content and keep the site fresh and vital. That said, I can tell you that there is one hell of a lot of spleens being vented, in editorials, columns and LTTEs in the "Red States". I suspect that, on the ground, a lot of repukes know this and want to get out the way, but this fact is not osmosizing into the puddin' heads of the beltway pollsters and pundits. Hence, the national media give these facts scant service.

But, in their defense, it's hard to maintain awareness when you have 16 ozs. of Palm Steakhouse porterhouse chronically dissolving in your small intestine. ;-)

I'm very surprised at that one. He was supposed to be going for the governorship when Owens gets term-limited out. But with the open Senate seat, I'm very surprised he's not going for it.

Tancredo, McInnis, Owens, or Beauprez would have all had excellent shots at getting the seats. Republicans outnumber Democrats statewide, and we've got Republicans controlling every branch of govt. Why the hell would they all say no?

Colorado Congressman Scott McInnis announced Friday that he is not running for Senate, leaving the GOP struggling for a high-profile candidate to try to replace Republican Ben Nighthorse Campbell who is stepping down this fall after serving two terms.

I don't get what their problem is. Not that I mind. The Democrats zeroed in on Salazar....were focused. Owens is running the re-select Bush* campaign in Colorado so they need him there. Maybe the Repukes are more concerned with helping Bush* take Colorado and have abandoned the idea of getting the Senate seat. One could only hope, right?

(snip) KWAME HOLMAN: It actually began last night at midnight, when Ways and Means Committee Chairman Bill Thomas decided to introduce his new pension reform bill, and push it through the committee today. Angry Democrats demanded they be given time to read the 90-page bill, and left the room to do so in the committee library. Washington State's Jim McDermott:

REP. JIM McDERMOTT: The chairman objected to our efforts to slow down the process so we could figure it out. We used a parliamentary move to simply read the bill. It's in the rules. It's our right in the minority to do that. And when he tried to obstruct us, we went into the library. And it all escalated after that.

KWAME HOLMAN: Only California Democrat Pete Starke remained in the committee room with the Republicans, and that's when tensions rose. Chairman Thomas moved to an immediate vote, and passed his bill with the Democrats out of the room. Starke objected and exchanged words with Thomas, and then with Colorado Republican Scott McInnis.

REP. SCOTT McINNIS: That particular individual threatened me with physical harm. It was clear there was going to be fairly prompt disorder beyond the magnitude that was anticipated when the member of the minority made his first comments.

16. Ken Salazar Is A Formidable Opponent

He's the only Democrat to hold statewide office in Colorado right now. He was narrowly elected the first time, but was re-elected with over 58 percent of the vote.

Colorado has a large Hispanic polulation and as a Hispanic himself, Ken can attract a lot of cross-over votes to the Democratic ticket.

19. He 's a Former Congressman (4th Dist, CO)

First elected in 1994, as part of the Republican Revolution. His district is most of the eastern third of Colorado - mostly Republican ranchers. The Republicans could nominate a dog turd for that district and it would get elected.

The only good thing I can say about Bob Schaeffer is that he's true to his word. He pledged to only serve three terms, and unlike other Republicans who made similar promises, at the end of his third term he walked away. Marilyn Musgrove now represents his district.

are the wacky bill proposals he came up with. One was for a law banning Congressmen/Senators from dating interns.
