Fox News Lawyers Up, Responds To Allegations Of Campaign Finance Law Violations

WASHINGTON -- The Fox News network has solicited the services of a prominent D.C. law firm and an equally prominent campaign finance lawyer to ward off a suit alleging that it made illegal in-kind contributions to a Republican gubernatorial candidate.

The conservative-leaning network has hired Larry Noble, a well-known attorney at the firm Skadden Arps, to defend itself against a suit filed during the height of the 2010 campaign by the Democratic Governor's Association.

In a filing with the Ohio Elections Commission in late November, Noble argued that the allegations leveled by the DGA were not just baseless but also designed to have a "chilling effect" on future press coverage.

In early August, the Democratic campaign arm accused Fox of illegally helping to raise money on behalf of incoming Ohio Governor John Kasich (R-Ohio) by running a chyron featuring his website at the same time that he was soliciting donations during an interview on Bill O'Reilly's show.

All other channels that are "good" should be bought out by liberal media and kept the same. Drop the name Fox. Change it to something more neutral.

Fine the 500 billion, upheld by USSC, and the only way Rupert can pay it off if he relinquish control and all assets are transferred to an escrow account with specific orders that Faux must be broken up and sold off to interested liberal medium.

Fox News appears to be gearing up to defend themselves after being accused of illegally helping a Republican candidate raise money on the air.

The Democratic Governors Association (DGA) filed a lawsuit in August claiming that Fox News had violated campaign finance laws by allowing Republican candidate for Ohio governor John Kasich to raise money on the air.

Ohio Elections Commission filings obtained by The Huffington Post indicate that Fox News has retained Larry Noble, a nationally recognized campaign finance attorney at the firm Skadden Arps, to represent them.

The Columbus Dispatch noted that Kasich made 16 appearances on the conservative-leaning network after formally announcing his candidacy. There were 42 other appearances made while he was considering a run for office. Kasich had also hosted The O'Reilly Factor on several occasions.

exposed for what they are. I mean all their employees who are potential republican candidates, all the lies that has come out of fox news programming, all of the constant bashing of dems and President Obama. The Las Vegas Sun has acquired audio of Nevada Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle speaking about her ability to raise money by appearing on Fox News shows like The O'Reilly Factor and Hannity.

According to The Sun, the audio is of Angle at a house party earlier this month. Here's the transcript:

Guest: Sharron, how are you doing as far as the fundraising?
Sharron Angle: It's going really well. If you're interested in just the Internet part of that -- and of course I've been criticized for saying that I like to be friends with the -- but here's the deal: when I get a friendly press outlet -- not so much the guy that's interviewing me -- it's their audience that I'm trying to reach. So, if I can get on Rush Limbaugh, and I can say, "Harry Reid needs $25 million. I need a million people to send twenty five dollars to SharronAngle.com." The day I was able to say that , he made $236,000. That's why it's so important.
