Japan's crippled Fukushima nuclear plant is not fully prepared for heavy rain and winds of a typhoon heading towards the country, officials admit. Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco), which runs the plant, said some reactor buildings were uncovered, prompting fears the storm may carry radioactive material into the air and sea.

'Inappropriate measures'

"We have made utmost efforts, but we have not completed covering the damaged reactor buildings," a Tepco official said on Saturday. "We apologise for the lack of significant measures against wind and rain," the official added.

Tepco has been pouring anti-scattering agents - such as synthetic resins - around the damaged buildings of reactors one and four. But some of the buildings still remain uncovered after they were damaged by hydrogen explosions soon after the quake and tsunami struck.

Typhoon Songda is weakening and expected to pass to the south of Japan, avoiding the crippled nuclear plant in Fukushima prefecture.

The eye of the storm was located about 260 kilometers (160 miles) south-southwest of Ashizurimisaki, part of Japan’s Kochi prefecture, and moving northeast at 55 kilometers per hour as of 9:50 a.m., the Japan Meteorological Agency said on its website. Wind speeds may decrease to 83 kilometers per hour by 9 p.m. from 108 kilometers per hour at 9:50 a.m., it said.

5. If you think about it...

...all we've heard is LIES--horrendous, dangerous lies--regarding Fukushima.

We recently discovered that at least three reactors had completely meltdown fairly early
in this saga. So, we know they were lying when they said they had no meltdown, and
constantly downplayed the potential dangers of Fukushima with their favorite line, "At
least it's not as bad as Chernobyl!".

Bullroar. Fukushima has TEN TIMES more nuclear material than Chernobyl EVER did. The
potential for catastrophe is worse than Chernobyl, and they knew at least three reactors
had melted down--and they covered it up.

They've recently revealed that these meltdowns happened. Now, they're saying that they're
having problems with the remaining reactors. I'm wondering if they're scrambling desperately
to come up with excuses or reasons for attaching MORE bad news or more meltdowns.

If they can say, "Ohhhh noes, this new rainstorm broke two reactors!"

I just don't trust anything they say. They're proven liars. They told Japanese
women to feed their radioactive breast milk to infants. They've allowed children to
attend schools where radioactive isotope levels are life threatening. And forget about
any warnings for us! Our media has handily followed their marching orders for a media
blackout on this story.

It's disgusting and beyond the pale.

yes, because a nuclear meltdown won't effect anyone but the Japanese.....certainly not anyone here in the Joplin Mo or the rest of the US....we're all just being silly little paranoids.....what's little uncontrolled nuclear disbursement and contamination between nations..... I'm sure we'll thank them one day.....think of all the free nuclear fuel just we won't have to purchase...we can just go and pick up off the ground now.

I'm sure when RC's hair is falling out and his air and water table has been irretrievably contaminated and he is dying a slow miserable death he will give the matter his full attention and the concern it deserves.

plated steel, even weld it to corrugated steel, to prevent radioactive materials from scattering here there & everywhere? The entire WORLD is acting like this is not that big of a deal.......it's the largest nuclear catastrophe in HUMAN HISTORY! Start acting like it! Entire nations should be acting together & assembling radiation shielding on their ships as they rush to Fukushima!
