Exclusive: Memo to Fox Business staff - don't copy Fox News
Source: Yahoo News

Here's a novel idea: Fox Business Network should focus on covering business news.

At least that's what Kevin Magee, executive vice president of the News Corp-owned cable news network, is urging his staff to do.

Unhappy with Fox Business' focus on politics, Magee fired off a memo to employees reminding them that the network was not created to be a light version of its sister Fox News Channel.

"I've been asked to remind you all again that they are separate channels and the more we make FBN look like FNC the more of a disservice we do to ourselves," Magee said in the memo dated October 5, carrying the subject line "Fox News and Fox Business."

"I understand the temptation to imitate our sibling network in hopes of imitating its success, but we cannot," Magee went on to say in the memo. "If we give the audience a choice between FNC and the almost-FNC, they will choose FNC every time. Earnings, taxes, jobs etc give us PLENTY to chew on."

5. Even within the corporation
The FAUX News model is recognized as shite. Probably got a lot of complaints from real businesspeople who got a bum steer from one of their FAUX News-type propaganda soundbites.

12. What do they do if "Biz" reports truth and it conflicts with the "News" spin of it?
Edited on Tue Oct-18-11 11:31 AM by valerief
What am I thinking? Both have "Fox" in the name, so truth will never be reported on either channel. The closest they'll get is truthiness. This is the USA after all where free speech is suppressed via money.

14. Credibility?
FoX Newspeak Channel is heavily propaganda anyway.

Business news is more than "We need more tax cuts!", "Obama is horrible!", and "We need to eviscerate unions!" Political advocacy may be the essence of FoX "News", but such is superfluous. Tax cuts mean nothing if the customer base is shrinking. GOP-leaning entrepreneurs and executives need to deal with the certainty of at the least fourteen more months of President Obama (62 if we Democrats get our act together!), and they need to find out how to use tax-and-spend politics to their gain.
