Occupy Denver protesters, law enforcement officers face off on steps of state Capitol

Occupy Denver protesters and law enforcement officers faced off on the steps of the state Capitol this afternoon after protesters marched through downtown Denver for the fourth week in a row.

When the demonstrators marched up the steps, officers in riot gear moved in and formed a line.

Some protesters pushed them while others joked with the officers.

People were screaming over each other. Some were dancing to a boombox, others were pounding on an unmarked patrol car.

3. Strikes next

They won't let people stay in the streets. They won't let voters into public buildings when those voters are protesting. They're attacking people and I guarantee they're steadily infiltrating protest groups with agent provocateurs so that it can all be made to look like the protesters started it.

Time to move on to a constructive period of doing nothing at all, and costing corporations and major share holders a lot of money by doing so.

Police confirmed they used pepper spray and either rubber bullets or pepper balls to disperse the crowd in Civic Center. Broadway was closed off at both Colfax and 14th Avenue and a stream of patrol cars, lights flashing and sirens blaring, hurried to the scene. Officers were dressed in riot gear.

Denver police spokesman Matt Murray said seven arrests had been made — including two for assault and one for disobedience.

Murray said one officer was knocked off his motorcycle and other officers were kicked by protesters.

All day-shift emergency medical service and police units - including officers from Denver International Airport - were alerted to keep working past the end of their normal shifts. Lakewood police were helping deal with Denver police calls.

Frankly, the Denver police and the city administration look increasingly silly -- more fully-armed police than 'protestors' and more disruption of traffic from the police than ever would happen because of the 'protestors'.

Even in a city run be Democrats you can see the power of the 1% ... it looks like what one would imagine happening in a totalitarian state than in the republic founded by Sam Adams, Ben Franklin, Thomas Paine, etc.
