"An oil painting of U.S. soldiers torturing Iraqi prisoners may find sanctuary at San Francisco City Hall after provoking some irate viewers to threaten and assault the owner of the art gallery where it was originally shown.
San Francisco Supervisor Aaron Peskin intends to introduce a resolution on Tuesday that if approved by the city's legislative body would bring the painting, titled "Abuse," to the halls of government and condemn the attacks directed at the Capociano gallery and its owner, Lori Haigh."

"But San Francisco Republican activist Mike DeNunzio called Peskin's plan "a shame."
"Would he also like to put a photograph of the young man whose head was sawed off by terrorists?" asked DeNunzio. "Would he also like to put up photograph of the thousands of men and women who were murdered by Saddam Hussein?"
