Bush Gets Boost From McCain on Iraq

Before cheering troops, President Bush got a strong endorsement on Iraq and a boost for his re-election campaign Friday from Sen. John McCain, the Arizona Republican courted by Democrat John Kerry to be his running mate.

McCain said of Bush: "He has not wavered in his determination to protect this country and to make the world a better, safer, freer place. You will not yield, nor will he."

22. No, he just says "Vote for Smirk"

Last time I checked, Smirk was running against Kerry. So when McCain says "Vote for Smirk", he is also saying "Do NOT vote for Kerry". McCain routinely calls Smirk "a great moral leader" and praises his abilities as Commander In Cheif.

If McCain really was a maverick who opposed the far right control of the GOP, he would have run against Smirk in the GOP primary. Or he would be running as an Independent, and trying to get other GOP moderates to defect to a third party. Or he would be campaigning for Kerry. At the very least, he wouldn't campaign for Smirk. McCain would claim he had health problems or family problems and sit silently on the sidelines and let Smirk sink or swim on his own.

But he's out campaigning for Smirk because - - hello! - - he wants Smirk and his cabal of far right Republicans to win. The fact that Smirk stole the South Carolina primary from McCain doesn't matter to McCain - - McCain just smiles and calls Smirk "a great moral leader". Because whether Smirk wins or not, McCain wins tons of brownie points with GOP grassroots for standing by their divinely appointed candidate in another razor close election. McCain solidifies his standing as the obvious GOP frontrunner for 2008.

And I'll repost something else blindingly obvious for the nth time: Everybody who praises McCain as a man of integrity, a special case who is above partisan politics makes it that much easier for McCain to convince people to vote for Smirk.

This would be the same GOP that has allowed the neoconservatives to take over the party, and as of yet have done little to nothing to take it back.

Why some ask, it's simple, it's all about the power, the control, and the ability to blame the neocons should things start to go down the toilet.

But as long as the neocons are getting the "party faithful" what they want, the GOP members will look the other way and ignore what is being done in the name of the Party.

And this describes McCain as well, he may say a few mean words directed against the neocons from time too time, but he too enjoys
the reins of power. This also shows that McCain's so called integrity
is questionable, would anyone here stay faithful to a group that has dragged your families name through the mud? McCain does, and this only shows that even a man like John McCain can be swayed by power and control.

Even if McCain does not say anything bad about Kerry, as is common with his party, it will be implied that since he's praising the Shrub,
then he must be saying that Kerry cannot do the job. And let's face facts, just using Iraq as an example, we have seen the GOP and their great use of "implied intent", even without any credible evidence.

I can't believe how many times I heard wingnuts accusing Johnson of cashing in on the war by going to Iraq. They were totally oblivious to the fact that Johnson had worked in Saudi for well over a decade (by some reports for several decades) or that he had been kidnapped there.

Saudi was a relatively safe (though oppressed) place prior to our illegal incursion in Iraq. Let's not lose sight of the fact that his kidnappers and killers stated that they were doing what they were doing to avenge the abuse of prisoners in Abu Graib.

Last night I couldn't believe it when Aaron Brown said 57% of Americans feel things are going better in Iraq. Also that Bush had pulled ahead of Kerry a couple points in the polls and the electoral
