Payback time for Bustamante's involvement in Lieberman's campaign was going to be John Doerr's support/war chest for his 2006 run for Governor, only the timetable has changed. Doerr is
THE mover and shaker in the Silicon Valley, and an endorsement from him is literally money in the bank. I'm not a fan of Lieberman but I think Doerr's support (and money) is just what Bustamante needs right now. Expect to hear Doerr's endorsement soon.

Prior to delivering the speech, he (Lieberman) picked up an endorsement from venture capitalist John Doerr, a leader in the high-tech field and a political heavyweight from Silicon Valley, sources said.
As part of the Northern California-based Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Doerr sponsored several major investments in such companies as Compaq, Amazon.com, Netscape and Sun Microsystems. Doerr advised Democrat Al Gore's campaign in 2000.
Today, Lieberman is set to receive the endorsement of California Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante -- one of the nation's most prominent elected Latino officials -- at a stop in Santa Monica. The joint appearance is part of a burst of campaign activity across California, as several Democratic contenders scour the state for money and support during the congressional Memorial Day recess.
