The BBC reported that maintenance and signaling workers at Network Rail and London Underground are due to walkout at 6:30 p.m. June 29.
The Rail, Maritime and Transport union called the strike Monday after talks with Network Rail bosses failed to break an impasse on pensions after union members voted last month to strike rather than accept cuts in pensions, pay and travel.
"Our ballot for industrial action may have brought Network Rail to the negotiating table, but on pensions they have simply sat there with their arms folded," said RMT General Secretary Bob Crow.
