Blasts Heard in Baghdad Near Green Zone Compound

BAGHDAD, June 27 - Loud explosions from suspected mortar or rocket fire rang out in central Baghdad on Sunday evening and smoke rose from the "Green Zone" compound housing the headquarters of the U.S.-led administration in Iraq.

The U.S. military had no immediate information. The Green Zone regularly comes under mortar or rocket attack, normally without major damage or casualties.
