So, is Tripoli a cool place to vacation? Otherwise, who cares about Libya?

We bomb the life out of Iraq who did have a ruthless dictator at the helm, yet was not a known sponsor of terrorism, and kill tens of thousands of their citizens, and of course also tragically, hundreds of our solidiers are killed doing this. Libya, however, an ADMITTED sponsor of terrorism, including the horrific Lokerbie plane bombing, is given diplomatic lovin' by the Bush Admin. I'm sure the families of those killed on that fateful flight in Lockerbie, have LOTS to say about Bush and his newfound love for Liby and Ghadafi. This is just stupid beyond comprehension.
Oh.. and do the Reagan fans enjoy Bush's new relationship with a man that said, upon hearing of Reagan's passing, that he 'was sorry Reagan never stood trial for bombing in Libya', the attack that killed Ghadafi's adopted daughter.

Cheney railed against all economic embargoes as President of HAL. He couldn't make money in Libya, Iraq, or Iran with embargos in place. He doesn't give a damn about the people in any of those countries. All he wants to do is do business with them legally.
I also read that Ghadafi deliberately left very significant contracts open to bids, as a means of bribing the US to end the sanctions against him. Apparently, his plan worked like a charm.
I can't wait to see pictures of Rumsfeld shaking his hand. A man responsible for the killing of 270 civilians on an airliner, and all is now forgiven, in the name of money.

And in all likelihood, DU was my source. I don't think it was any big secret though. http://news.scotsman.com/topics.cfm?tid=47&id=348102004

It's 1999:

I can just imagine the talk radio boards right now.

And that is exactly what Cruddafi has been trying to get around for years. He's wanted to trade again for ever so long, but the families would not take pay-offs from him.
Along comes Shrub and his bogus war on terror, Cruddafi says "OOOO, George!, you big brave fighter of evildoers, you've scared this motherfluffer straight!" And Crud gets handsomely rewarded for the Bullshitter-in-chiefs ability to point to Crud's nasty ass and say; "See. ya'll. mah war on terror done did it up goooood!"
Ye-fuckin'-ha.
And yuck.

Unless there's OIL involved and the promise cross-their-hearts wink wink that they're all reformed now!
Hell this guy was the Saddam of the 80s well actually SADDAM was the Saddam of the 80s but they loved him then. Those guys just LOVE terrorists as long as they behave themselves with the US, and who cares about what the people in those countries have to deal with. Oh why oh why do they hate us? I wonder....

...Does this mean US companies can start developing that shelf off Libya? I know we were ticked off the Japanese were going to go ahead, sanctions or no sanctions... and when I say "we" I mean "US oil interests". :eyes:
