Scans uncover secrets of the womb

A new type of ultrasound scan has produced the vivid pictures of a 12 week-old foetus "walking" in the womb.
The new images also show foetuses apparently yawning and rubbing its eyes.

The scans, pioneered by Professor Stuart Campbell at London's Create Health Clinic, are much more detailed than conventional ultrasound.

Professor Campbell has previously released images of unborn babies appearing to smile.

2. Just think, 10 yrs from now, kids will be freaked out at seeing....

...photos of them when they were a fetus. How weird would that be?? I started to wonder about that when I put my sonogram pic in my daughter's baby album under "first photo".

12. THIS ISNT BREAKING NEWS - It's 5 Year Old Technology....Old News

Siemens and GE have been selling 3D Ultrasound technology for over 5 years....I had them done with both my children when I had amniocentesis performed due to their high resolution accuracy.

Why the BBC decides to publish this story as if its "news" means that they are light on news or me thinks there are other reasons for this story being published - hmmm....Fetuses walking and smiling? Go figure...

9. This has been argued here before, but my kids smiled soon after birth.

It also didn't take that much to make them visibly happy and almost laughing.

Of course, there are those here that will saw it is only gas. But I say, if they are happy, not crying and appear to be smiling....they are smiling.

We have a 12 week old in the womb at this moment and I'd love nothing more than to have a look at what I've been calling our little "peanut" -

why? because according to what I've seen on the video screen up to now that's exactly what it looks like..
