Saddam himself, certainly does, and there is surely a small, but not trivial percentage of Iraqis who didn't mind life under Saddam. By now, lots more would say life wasn't any worse under him than it is under the occupation. If Allawi is the strongman (i.e. murderer) that reports indicate he may be, most Iraqis will probably end up wondering why they went through all this grief to trade Saddam for Allawi.

I just think your generalization is a little strong. Time will tell how it all works out, once the U.S. forces leave.

Welcome to DU. There are no Saddam apologists here. Neither are there any supporters of the current administrations policies. Removing Saddam was a distraction from the 9-11 or the economy or tax cuts for the wealthy or all three.
The dead members of the Armed Forces have died in vain. Saddam was not a threat to our national security. Whatever threat he did present could have been dealt with differently.

There are two men in my hometown that have created a large sign alongside a major road displaying the number of killed or wounded soldiers. I really do not know if enough people are aware of the actual numbers, and would encourage people to do a similar thing. I'm starting right after I finish this.
