The Al-Kindi hospital said only one body was brought in after the incident, although a police officer at the scene had said two people were killed when the bomb went off at 8:30 am (0430 GMT).
The device blew up in Abu Nawas street, shortly after a US military convoy rolled by, he added.
The Al-Kindi hospital said it treated three people after the attack, while the US military put the death toll at three, with three others wounded.
