NEW YORK -- Former President Bill Clinton could be a host of ``Saturday Night Live'' this season. At least, that's what the folks at NBC are hoping.

TV Guide Online quotes anonymous sources saying that Clinton has been offered the gig if he wants it.

Why can't Clinton? I think it would be kind of fun to see him entertain. The ability to laugh at one's self is a rare quality these days.

Sharpton (much as I love him) is part comedian with his repartee and one line zingers, and Gore (much as I love him, too) was tone deaf politically.

Bill can poke fun at himself but in better ways and better venues.
He's a former President. You'll never see Jimmy Carter stoop to SNL. Bill will rise to senior statesman with an endearing, enduring legacy. People who once hated him have already come to respect and appreciate him more with each day. It will only get better for him but he needs to steer clear of the trash (aside from the opening political skits) that SNL has become. SNL would demean Bill.

Former two-term presidents have no business hosting, or appearing, on comedy shows. Saturday Night Live is simply beneath Bill Clinton.

Saturday Night Live is just too stupid, with few exceptions. Although I would like to see Bill Clinton and Darrel Hammond in the same skit, can you imagine President Clinton "wanting to toucha tha Mango" or being the new member of Gemini's twin? :shrug:

I think he should compromise and do a guest appearance. He could show up and do a spot on weekend update.
