Connecticut PostSen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn., and Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-3, said Tuesday that Goss needs a thorough investigation.
"While Congressman Goss is a fine man who is respected within the intelligence community, he brings to the job a reputation for engaging in partisan politics," DeLauro said. "At a time when the Congress is debating how to reform our intelligence infrastructure and as we also wage an ongoing war on terrorism, I believe there is a real risk in putting a political figure at the helm of the nation's highest intelligence office." ..
Retired Adm. Stansfield Turner, who was CIA chief during the Carter administration and supports Sen. John Kerry's presidential bid, said Goss' selection marked "a bad day for the CIA." Goss was chosen simply "to help George Bush win votes in Florida," he said.
