| Gore lashes out at Bush, Goss |
|
Former Vice President Al Gore Jr. lashed out at President Bush Thursday saying the administration’s CIA director nominee named this week would “foster fear” and “divide” the nation.
Gore, speaking before a partisan group of more than 300 “Music Row Democrats” at the historic Belcourt Theatre, criticized Bush, saying he had “thumbed his nose” at the recommendations submitted by the independent 911 Commission. And Gore said the nomination of Republican U.S. Rep. Porter Goss of Florida Tuesday shouldn’t have been of a partisan nature leading up to the November election where Bush will face Democratic nominee Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts.
“I'm telling you that a President of a United States who was genuinely and deeply concerned with healing the wounds in our nation and bringing us together as a people and doing everything possible to learn the lessons of 911, the recommendations of that commission and sure that it never happens again would not appoint a partisan political player on the eve of the election to head the CIA and ignore the recommendations of the 9/11 commission,” Gore said.http://www.nashvillecitypaper.com/index.cfm?section=9&screen=news&news_id=34946
