Superficial wounds? What McCain went through in South Carolina is superficial child's play compared to what the Republican attack machine is mounting today.

And Dole is part of their dirty tricks squad? I thought that Dole and his wife (who screened a video for Bush supports in Raleigh this weekend) were above the disgusting tactics utilized by the Rovians and their ilk. I thought wrong.

John O'Neill and his SmearVets make it sound like Vietnam vets everywhere are pi$$ed off at Kerry, and have been for over 30 years.

The Vietnam vets I've spoken with regard Kerry's comments back then as a total non-issue. Some were even barely aware of Kerry back in '71.

But to blunt, it seems to me that most Vietnam vets simply are sick and tired of hearing about the war. I'm surprised by how ambivalent some of them have been about this whole SwiftVets controversy. They're just trying to put the past behind them.

One of our biggest problems is "sound bites". Especially since they are more often than not taken out of context. Kerry was testifying on what other soldiers had told him. People can deny what these vets said, but without the photos who would have believed that prison in Baghdad.
