TALLAHASSEE - A former aide to Gov. Jeb Bush will continue helping develop voter education programs under a state contract despite being charged last week with 13 violations of state elections law, officials said Wednesday.
Cory Tilley, who served as Bush's chief spokesman and deputy chief of staff before leaving to form a communications consulting company, failed to disclose contributors to a political group he formed in 2003 to defeat gambling legislation. The civil charges against Tilley's now-defunct group, Floridians for Family Values, carry potential penalties of $1,000 per violation.

Secretary of State Glenda Hood, who oversees Florida's Division of Elections, considers the charges irrelevant to Tilley's work with a bipartisan group developing a voter-education media campaign, said spokeswoman Alia Faraj. His company, CoreMessage Inc., is one of two consultants advising the state on the project.
