Twins Say Bush Owes Success to Their Mom

NEW YORK - Twins Jenna and Barbara Bush have no doubt about the secret to their father's success: their mother.



And, as devoted to cleanliness and organization as she is, every once in a while first lady Laura Bush lets loose a curse word to get their attention.


"I think if he had never met my mom, there's no way he could have been as successful as he is just because she is so stable and so supportive ... and so giving," Jenna Bush said in an interview aired Monday on ABC's "Good Morning America."


"I mean, she travels and works for him ... but she would never think not to, you know? They just have a pretty unconditional love," Jenna said.


The twins said their mother has told them she had never experienced stress until she brought home two babies and realized she didn't know exactly how to care for them. Their mother is "bizarrely clean," Jenna said. "And organized," Barbara added.

That makes sense as a root of what sounds like a bit of obsessive cleanliness and orderliness. I have to feel some sympathy for her, living with something like that her whole life. (I have to point out, of course, that she is damned lucky it's not Bill Clinton she's married to, or Rove would have defined her in the public mind as a killer, period.) I wonder if she's had therapy at all to deal with that trauma, or has dealt with it on her on, like her husband has with alcohol.

Doctors at the UCLA Medical Center announced today that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were surgically joined at their lower lips in a grueling 20-hour procedure. Dr. Hackenbush said that while Ashley came through the surgery with flying colors, “we were really concerned about Mary-Kate at one point – she was becoming dangerously emaciated, almost skeletal. We thought that Ashley might be leeching essential nutrients from her. But after we dispatched a team to the nearest Wal-Mart checkout to research the leading celebrity medical journals, we quickly found out the real story – and it was a **SHOCKER**!”

Describing some of the details of the surgery, Dr. Hackenbush noted that “this kind of procedure can only be performed on identical twins in order to avoid serious complications resulting from rejection of – What? They’re not? Gee, Michelle Tanner always looked like the same kid to me.”

to what they say, as far as cleanliness and organization go. Bush's friends from his younger days have said he was rarely even seen in a clean shirt until after Laura worked him over - and he was about 28 when they met.

Took another 12 years and an ultimatum from her for him to quit the public boozing lifestyle.

But those are external things. She has obviously been an utter failure at reforming his conscience. But then, she had nothing to work with there - he doesn't have one. And she's lost whatever conscience she might have once had.

I read an article years ago in Readers Digest that said that the twins didn't like to visit gramma because she made them pick up their own clothes and was strict. Well, if mom is so clean and organized why didn't she raise her girls to be that way? and the partying?

I have two girls in their twenties one is exactly their age and I am raised them alone as a single mom and they turned out better than those two with all their fancy schools and money.

If mom is soo good what happened? I have read people saying bad things about Laura then others saying we shouldn't say things bad about her. I say to them look at the latest Time article with her agreeing with the vietnam viets against kerry.

Laura is one of those like many other women that are phonies, they pretend to be sweet but are manipulative and know exactly what they are doing. A lot of people on here think she is dumb a stepford wife. I think she is playing a very good act.
