MIAMI -- In Miami, a wholesaler has announced that his company will recall 14,000 bags of candy.

The bags contain a toy that looks like a plane flying into a building and, we found, a second toy that looks like Osama Bin Laden suspended between the two buildings.

13. The importer doesn't find it offensive at all...weirdness from Miami

We talked to L and M and they say they have no problem at all with the toy and don't consider it offensive at all.

We even pointed out to the import company that every single toy has a stock number on the front that reads "9011." L and M Imports didn't find it all coincidental and said it's just a toy. Asked if they'd talk on camera, they said there is nothing to talk about.

But the Ossama thing is pretty unmistakable. Interesting that this stuff appears now, during the Republican convention. It could be a little agitprop propaganda, to get the American masses mildly annoyed. Or, some capitalist out there identified a market in anti-Americana, and a few shipments strayed to the States. I would guess it is some bauble churned out at a plastics plant in Asia somewhere, making a quick buck for someone. Maybe Al-Queda will bring a suit for copywrite infringement.

It could be China or southeast Asia. But it looks like something that was thrown together quickly, from molds that already existed for the plane and the buildings (they don't actually look much like the WTC and the plane looks like a kid's animation). The Ossama mold would have take a bit more doing, if it is actually him, rather than just some turbaned figure.

I think someone is just turning a quick buck. You would think anyone with a primarily political motivation would have done a better job. But, you never know. I hope the source is tracked, if only for curiosity's sake. I doubt there is actually a law against it.
