CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - An FBI investigation into a Pentagon analyst suspected of passing on secrets about Iran to Israel will not prevent him from teaching history courses at Shepherd University, a school official said Tuesday.
Investigators are trying to determine whether Middle East analyst Larry Franklin passed highly classified material about Bush administration policy on Iran to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the major Israeli lobbying group in Washington, and whether the group in turn passed it to Israel.
Franklin has been an adjunct professor at the Shepherdstown school for about five years and lives in nearby Kearneysville, history department chair Anders Henriksson told The Associated Press.
Franklin "has been a real asset" to the Shepherd history department, Henriksson said, teaching freshman courses in world history and Asian traditions.
