This late in the game, just two months before the election? If they were to come in good now, would it mean anything?

Job numbers mean a lot this late in the game. If they were to come in negative, it would be VERY bad news for Bush.

| 6. Get this blip from the idiots who are always having to adjust the figures: |
|
<snip> Economists expect the report to show about 150,000 payroll jobs were created last month, up from a disappointing 32,000 in July, while the unemployment rate is forecast to be unchanged at 5.5 percent. <snip>
They come out with a bogus set of numbers on Friday, then a couple of weeks later they have to come out and 'adjust' (just another word for being forced to tell the truth sort of) them.
Rat bastards.

If the jobs numbers were good or great, you can bet your bippy that he'd want to include that in his speech - it would only buttress whatever arguments he'd try to make that his frickin' tax cuts are working. cheney last night made a VERY vague reference to "...and people are going back to work." Never stopped to spell that one out, any, or milk it for any benefit. That's because there is none.

|
would be truthful about something like this. It would not even occur to them to be honest. Therefore, White House spokeswoman Claire Buchan is lying. I earlier doubted that Bush had seen the report, but now that the White House has issued this statement I am certain that Bush knows the numbers.

it reminds me of when * had one of his bicycle accidents and the spokesman, defending his apparently suicidal method of bike riding, was saying, "it's not as if he was riding around whistling show tunes" or something, and someone here immediately concluded that therefore, that's exactly what * WAS doing!
If he doesn't mention the jobs numbers, or jobs at all, then the numbers must be bad.
Of course, he will spew "we're making good progress" 90 times, but that's par for the course.

| 14. With the net loss of over |
|
1 million jobs since this POS took office what does it matter if the rate of unemployment is 5.6 or 6.5 per-cent? In over a million households that is 50 to 100 per-cent. And worse yet the loss of medical insurance coverage in many cases. Not since Herbert Hoover folks has the job situation been this dismal and is more than enough cause for any employed person to get off the fence and help vote this man out of office. Many states have a voter registration requirement of 30 days prior to the election. It is not only the duty of each and every person on this board to make sure they are properly registered to vote but every person with whom you speak in the next month should be asked if they are registered to vote and if not see that the proper steps are taken to get that job done. The last thing we need is a lot of "sweet talkin and slow walkin" in getting this job done. Failure to register and vote will guarantee four more miserable years of lost hope for this country.

your head in the sand and blather on with speculation about the condition of the economy even though we have paid millions of tax dollars to generate this official report which you have every right to examine well before it is made public.
right?
that's right, isn't it, shrub? is this how you ran ALL of your businesses? have corporate meetings without looking at the numbers? what a total farce your administration is. what a complete fake and fraud you are. what a dismal excuse for a president you make.

|
We all know that Bush* would never miss the opportunity to use something good to help boost his selfish self-centered ego. Who does he think he's fooling. He's already gotten the 411 and that's why they are not coming out with the report publicly until Friday. The day after he tells America more new and improved "BULLSHIT". Trust me if it were good news, that damn report would have been released today.

|
Because we could juxtapose his comments tonight with the numbers tomorrow. So we should be able to tell what the numbers are by how confident and boastful he is about the economy tonight. If the numbers were great, he would definitely say something bold about the direction of the economy, since many people will not be paying attention tomorrow because of the Hurricane and Holiday Weekend.

|
Edited on Thu Sep-02-04 07:56 PM by Snellius
Unless they're astronomically high, which is unlikely. But if they're bad, or even flat, they could continue to hurt him.
(With the stakes so high -- these are the last stats before the election -- I wouldn't be surprised if they are "revised" downward two months from now. I wouldn't even be surprised if the U.S. Chamber of Commerce secretly suggested its members to add a few thousand "hires" last month who will suddenly be found expendible after the ballots are in.)

on a high tonight, which will mean a bounce. Even if it's a millimeter's worth, the media will certainly play it up. But reality's gonna hit soon, too. Misery in Florida where lots of people are already strapped and don't need more hardship. The REAL job figures out tomorrow, and just up the road a very SHORT distance: the Thousandth Death. NOBODY will be able to ignore that Iraqi Debacle Milestone. NOBODY. And the convention? By then, it'll more likely be "what have you done for us lately, george?" I'm hoping people will snap out of their stupor, and any bounce is quickly vaporized by the wolves that all the savvy p.r. on earth can no longer keep away from the door.

I'll never understand why middle class folks would choose these arrogant people. Haven't they noticed that under Republican leadership (beginning with Reagan) the middle class has shrunk considerably?
