Early voters cast ballots on new touch-screen machines in government buildings, shopping centers, supermarkets and libraries, and election officials reported few problems despite initial concerns about voter reaction to the devices.
There were minor delays as some voters waited a few minutes to review the paper record of their ballot. The paper records, pushed by Secretary of State Dean Heller as a vote verification tool following the Florida election debacle in 2000, are a first for the nation.
"We're seeing increased voting because the machines can be placed in so many locations. Before, that was nearly impossible," said Heller spokesman Steve George. ..
