Father of boy who shot himself faces firearms charge

ROANOKE, Va. -- The father of a 4-year-old boy who apparently shot himself to death has been charged with having a firearm after being convicted of a felony, police said.

Isaiah Wiley, 23, of Roanoke was being held without bond Sunday night in the Roanoke City Jail.

Assadi Wiley was found dead in the front seat of a Cadillac STS shortly after 5 p.m. Friday. The boy had been sitting in the car while his father stood outside and talked to someone, said Roanoke Police Capt. Rusty Ross. Ross said the boy apparently found a gun inside the car and fired it.
