Brother of federal prosecutor becomes major GOP donor

NEWARK, N.J. - In the three years before Christopher J. Christie, a top fund-raiser for President Bush, began a successful effort to become the top federal prosecutor in New Jersey, his brother had made less than $12,000 in donations to Republican causes.

Since summer 2001, however, Todd Christie and his wife have given more than $400,000 to the GOP, according to an analysis by The Star-Ledger of Newark.

As U.S. attorney for New Jersey, Christopher Christie, cannot raise money or attend political functions. But his younger brother faces no such restrictions.

The donations break no laws, but some question whether they are proper.

.. how he could possibly donate 400k in one year. Interesting.. I'm certainly not suggesting that the prosecutor would do anything underhanded, like funnel money thru his brother. would I?

100 million, and has helped chris financially (not that he needed it) throughout his political career.

before his brother has to pay taxes.
