| Reporters' Files Subpoenaed |
|
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A9890-2004Sep9?language=printerChicago U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald, who is also acting as a special prosecutor in the CIA leak probe, informed the Times by letter last week that his office has subpoenaed telephone company records. The move is part of an effort to determine whether anyone in the government told Times reporters of planned federal asset seizures in December 2001 at the offices of an Islamic charity suspected of providing funding to al Qaeda, according to several sources familiar with the case.
The FBI believes that a call from a reporter to a representative of the charity, the Illinois-based Global Relief Foundation, may have led to the destruction of documents there the night before the government's raid, according to findings by the Sept. 11 commission.
The subpoena seeks the phone records of two Times reporters, Philip Shenon and Judith Miller, according to the sources. Officials at the Times and in Fitzgerald's office refused to comment.

This seems to be awfully divergent from the original case he was tasked to investigate. Seems. That said, it infers that his investigations have taken him down some very interesting paths.
Interesting indeed. The potentials are fascinating.

| 2. Clamming up to protect a source is one thing, |

but warning people to help destroy evidence takes it to a very different level.

| 3. It just keeps getting weirder and weirder all the time. The first thing I |
|
do now when I get up is get on the computer and start trolling for the latest bombshells and insanity. In fact, I get up an hour early just for that purpose. And believe me, I shouldn't be doing that. I never go to be before midnight and I set the clock for 5:30. Sometimes if the dogs are freaking out and need to go outside, I get up even earlier. This cannot be healthy.
But you know, I am never disappointed. The criminal behavior, the lies, the new scandals, the repuke-controlled media, it's a never ending series of events that just make me crazy over the world my children are going to have to live in thanks to the greed and total amorality of the people leading this country today.
