then I am very close to totally giving up on this fucking country. I guess we'll see, on Nov. 2nd. I mean, if they want wine and circuses. We can't fight the tide of stupidity if it's that great. Like the crusades I've been on for the last thirty years. The cars just keep getting bigger. The people just keep getting stupider. The tv shows keep getting slouchier. Someone tell me I'm wrong. I don't even feel like posting anymore. I don't have a damn thing to say. It's all been said. But those who need to hear it, aren't listening. Hell, I can't even approach my repub neighbor with his 5am chickens. If I can't do that, then this other stuff is totally out of the question.

Time to start writing my letters. I've got some people in North Carolina who are teetering. These are just people I met, selling stuff on Ebay. Every one I can help to see through the lies of what they get on tv, will not vote for Little Boy Georgie.
Thanks again. I needed that.

I feel exactly the same, but remember that this is exactly the way Rove and company want us to feel. The puppeteers are as aware as we are that bush's brain is as active as a dead tree stump, they don't care, and they want us to just go away.

I've actually been contemplating moving to France. BUT...
Then I realized that moving to France wouldn't really help. If these guys are as imperialistic as they seem to be, everywhere else in the world will be confronted by them. It is better to stay and fight now.

I just bought the CD. It's bluesy gospel music, and very uplifting. Find it online or something, the title song will cheer you up.

I can certainly relate to what you're feeling. I've felt it too many times in the past few years. You are not alone. Have you ever heard of the book "The Cultural Creatives?" If not, get a copy from your library and read it. It will make you feel better about your being outside the mainstream of America. I do not fit into any mainstream categories and it can be very, very difficult at times, but I believe it would be more difficult to live a lie; i.e., trying to "fit in." Also, there are plenty of people who truly appreciate what you do even though you may think it's small potatoes. The one thing you must not do is let anyone intimidate you into keeping quiet. So, keep those letters going and know that we here at DU are on the same side as you.
P.S. If you can convince someone in NC to see the light, then you are doing a lot. I used to live there and it was a very trying time for an educated, self-confident, outspoken woman.

I found the website for that book, and took their test. I'm totally a cultural creative. :) Still doesn't help me much. I'm lousy at tolerating anything short of perfection. I could write a book on my own about this subject. Just my own observations of the world. I am so impressed by what I read on just the first page of the website. It IS a help knowing there are other people out there. I think we really keep quiet. That's the kind of people we are. My chin has been down for so many decades, I need every bit of help I can get to keep it up. Thanks.

I work in a public library, so naturally I'm an avid reader, albeit I don't read what the general public reads. This book caught my eye and I, too, was immediately drawn to it. I didn't know they had a name for what I was:) Read the book. Request it from your library if you don't want to buy it.

| 17. I keep saying to myself, "There's no way 50% of Americans |

are dumb enough to re-elect *." If so, they've got terrible low standards for their Presidents. And yet, it continues to look like they truly are that dumb. Very discouraging.

Shrub has a 30% rock-solid base.
The other 16% or so say they are voting for him, but are to varying degrees apalled by what is going on in the country. We WILL win about one third of those people over by election day, and we WILL win this thing.
Right now, you have to spend part of each and every day working on that 16%. Anything you can do to either convince them to vote for Kerry or to convince them NOT to vote for GWB you MUST do.
