House of Commons says no to US war on Cuba

An overwhelming majority of British MPs of all parties, including Prime Minister, Tony Blair, have made written statements declaring that they would not support any military action against Cuba by the United States. They illustrate the gulf between US foreign policy and the views of members of the British House of Commons.

A report issued today, reveals that 79% of MPs, who responded to letters from their constituents on the question of aggressive US policy towards Cuba, stated that not only would they not support US military action, but that they also thought the Bush administration should change its policies towards the island.

The vast majority of the 402 MPs who replied in writing also believed that US foreign policy had caused hardship for 11 million Cubans and damaged the country’s economy.

Peter Hain, Leader of the Commons, in a letter to one constituent stated: “I am absolutely opposed to military action being taken against Cuba and also opposed to the continuing blockade of Cuba by the United States. I visited Cuba two years ago and was very impressed with the social advances that have been made despite all the pressure from the US.”

5. Since he seized the Presidency, Bush has threatened Cuba continually

Each year his State Department unleashes a series of charges, saber-rattling using a rotating system of claiming Cuba is involved in any number of evil deeds.

Charges of creating biological dual-use products, harboring terrorists, dealing in human trafficking and child-prostitution, etc. have all be hurled at Cuba, on a once every six months basis, as it seems, EVERY year _Bush has been squatting in the White House.

Within the last few days, they unexpectedly retreated on their "dual use biological materials" charge, and said basically it was incorrect and that they are revising their position. This happens after they've gotten TONS of mileage bellowing about it at least twice a year since 2001.

A few months ago, there was discussion of US boats leaving ports in Cuba. Some astute forum members were talking about that being a precursor to some kind of invasion. Thus an October surprise. And it appears that this may have been, or still be, the case. Good for the UK. People have caught on to the Chimpster.

9. Bush attacked Cuba in July, citing a raging prostitution problem!

At that time, a DU'er who had been to Cuba said that there's a far, far larger problem with prostitution in Miami than in Cuba.

Breaking with tradition, Cuba's maximum leader Fidel Castro turned his traditional July 26 State of the Nation speech into a war of words with President Bush.

Castro devoted the bulk of his 90-minute speech to countering charges levied by Mr. Bush that his government fosters tourism prostitution and child pornography. He strongly implied that President Bush cannot distinguish between his imagination and reality.

Quoting extensively from the book "Bush on the Couch: Inside the Mind of the President" by Dr. Justin A. Frank, Castro suggested that Mr. Bush's accusations against Cuba's socialist government may be rooted in his untreated alcoholic past.

In the book, Frank, a clinical professor of psychiatry at George Washington University Medical Center, deals with the president's admitted two-decade-long drinking problem and possible thought disorders that lead him to invent enemies so that he can destroy them.

Castro noted Mr. Bush called the "tourism industry here sexual tourism and the people who come here pedophiles and pleasure seekers" applying those descriptions not only to American visitors but to Canadian tourists. "Most people know these tourists are retirees and people of the third age who seek safety and tranquility in our country."

Mostly, Americans refuse to accept it (maybe because the dictatorial American government forbids its citizens from freely going and seeing Cuba for themselves).
