I thought CR was a remarkable man. There is an interesting scene in the book Fast Food Nation which describes him giving a speech at a motivational seminar, following all these get-rich quick gurus, where CR says that money doesn't matter as much as love and meaning -- the audience was awestruck.

20. A couple of weeks ago, he did an interview on the BBC World Service ...

I didn't realize that he had had a VERY bad year healthwise...
He had to stop a lot of his excerise/rehab because the harness gave way, and he wound up fracturing his hip. He had osteoporosis.

He also had a systemic infection in the blood which he barely survived.

I was really shocked to find out how badly things were going for him...

He was so brave and hopeful in the interview, even though he stated that he now thought he probably wouldn't ever be able to walk because of the setbacks in his rehab program....

What good and brave soul. Godspeed, Christopher Reeve.
