(Reuters) - President Bush misled the country by switching his focus to Iraq instead of Osama bin Laden, Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards said on Friday, in a departure from his usual campaign focus on domestic issues.
In a speech giving more emphasis to foreign affairs, Edwards said Bush had shown "incompetence" by deciding to cut back forces in Afghanistan before capturing bin Laden in order to focus on Iraq.
"Every day we learn something new about how things are going terribly wrong in Iraq. And more details come out about how George Bush misled the country and took his focus from Osama bin Laden to go after Saddam Hussein," Edwards said at a rally at a community center in this south Florida town.
