The Choice for Israelis by Jimmy Carter

No matter what leaders the Palestinians might choose, how fervent American interest might be or how great the hatred and bloodshed might become, there remains one basic choice, and only the Israelis can make it:

Do we want permanent peace with all our neighbors, or do we want to retain our settlements in the occupied territories of the Palestinians?

America's worst betrayal of Israel would be to support the second choice.

President Carter is one of only three US Presidents to ever win the Nobel Peace Prize.

I'm persuaded. How about you?

1. I wonder how long it will be before APAC/PNAC/JINSA/Likud, ...

and their allies and sycophants in the media, attack Carter for his reasonable and thoughtful comments? Even-handedness and fairness is an anathema to Israeli right-wingers, and their supporters here. Witness the recent hatchet job they tried on Dean. War and chaos always present a better climate for fascism.

I hope whoever is the Dem president elect, will finally stand up to Israel, and their PNAC/AIPAC/JINSA allies here. We can no longer allow an outside country to dictate our foreign policy, in violation of our constitution I might add, to the detriment of not only this nation, but to ME and world peace and security. It is time to purge war-mongering fascists from our government, whether they are Likud supporters, or not.
