I just sent this suggestion to Topix.net.

I use Topix RSS every day to assembly my email news roundup on Iraq (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IraqFrontNews). Topix is a great service.

About a month ago I noticed that you're harvesting postings from the ultra-conservative/nationalist Free Republic site. Although I think the vast majority of posts at FR are mean and ignorant, I'm okay with FR as a Topix source.

I would suggest balancing FR with Democratic Underground (http://www.democraticunderground.com), which is often cited as the polar opposite of FR. To me, this means there is a great deal more intelligent and compassionate commentary.
