I'd say her remarks about the 9/11 memorial design finalists are spot-on correct.

| 3. Once again, my PROBLEM with WHOREEN DOWD |
|
This whore put us in the situation we're in due to her psychotic hatred of the Clintons and Al Gore.
This whore looked the other way when my nephew took a bullet in Iraq that left him a quadraplegic.
Unitl this slut apologizes to the Clintons and Al Gore, she can drop dead!

she ranks right up there, atop the Himalayas of media whoredom, along with a host of others, but perhaps at K2 level, above the likes of Ceci Connolly, but below that of Coulter, Noonan, late, unlamented B. Olson in the female pantheon. but, I could be wrong

| 2. Ms Dowd makes some very interesting points |
|
The best summary is her use of Leon Wieseltier's remark: <snip> "Lower Manhattan must not be transformed into a vast mausoleum, obviously," he said, "but neither must it be transformed into a theme park for advanced architectural taste."
I recall all the fuss and grumbling about "the Wall" when the design was shown then chosen. The grumbling kept up through construction. But judging from reports the profound affect of visits there and all that one can read about what people have done there, I would say the design was on target. It helped the healing process by allowing individuals to open the abcesses of unexplored and unexpressed grief, anger, love, horror and dozens of other conflicting emmotions.
Anything that evokes a 'Don't Worry, behappy and never never ponder the incongruities and inequaties which of this event and how it has been used' is just plain wrong. Making a movie set for a meditation scene is much different from creating a space where real reflection is invited, respected and inspired.

love pretenti-oids who, essaying a different language, can't even get one out of two words correct.
moi?
petite? (he's a HE)
nice try, though, especially, given the nature of his nephew's predicament.
unless, of course, you're joking
if so, je m'excuse. mais, je ne pense pas.
that picture is pretty cool, though, will admit that
interesting site, too......just realized that I've seen it before
load time is not salubrious for those of us in the hamster drive stage, though
don't you like him appropriating your title?

did you read WHY Zanti posted as he did? Sometimes a polite "lets agree to disagree" makes more sense than a "I am right and you deserve a spanking over it..." Had someone near and dear to me lost their life, or lost their physical abilities in the past 9 months due to Bush's policies and by default the cheering press that stifled public discourse about the war... I might be prone to rather harsh, emotional criticisms. And I would hope that those in a progressive forum, even when they did not agree, would at least be respectful enough of the context of my critique not be completely dismissive.

Is a common & annoying misuse of the English language. Generally, the speaker "couldn't care less" but is too dim to use the right word.

| 10. aesthetic judgements are tricky |

there's always the possibility that Dowd misunderstood the designs. It doesn't seem Down considered this possibility.
Then there's the fact that she's complaining about the lack of gravitas, while she's making Deepak Chopra jokes.
