f Hannity is really going to prove he mettle, he ought to do away with the towel. The second stage usually involves stuffing the rag in the mouth, and pouring the water in.

But a real man would allow them to insert leather funnels into their mouth so that we can pour water directly into someone's lungs - not "simulating" drowning as it is described, but literally drowning them, filling their lungs with water and then have them cough it up. (Somtimes this is done by wrapping the person's face in plastic and opening a small hole at the mouth where you can insert a hose.) If Hannity really wanted to prove it's nothing more than getting your face wet, then he ought to be able to handle the worst we do and that is permissable: according to the Bush Administration's definition, anything short of pain of death or catastrophic organ failure was permissible.



Tell Hannity the only way he loses the bet is if he says, "the dirty hippies are right. The war was wrong, and waterboarding is torture!" Something he would never, ever say, except under extreme duress. Then have some experienced interrogators waterboard him as they would any detainee. The only way he doesn't get the money is if he says those words -- but if he does say "the dirty hippies are right! The war was wrong and waterboarding is torture!" the waterboarding stops.
