Paul Ryan Tells Student He Should Work Three Jobs To Pay For College, Not Use Pell Grants
http://thinkprogress.org/education/2011/10/20/349627/paul-ryan-three-jobs-pell-grants/

don't you just love these guys? we have a crisis of crushing student debt, partially alleviated by obama's policy change on eliminating private loans for federal aid (which of course Ryan wants to repeal!) Ryan want more opportunity for big banks to enslave our youth to a lifetime of student debt.. and the ultimate in fairytale hypocracy. tells them they should work three jobs to pay off loans for college LIKE HE DID.. uh.. really?

"3. Ryan's father died when Paul was only 16. Using the Social Security survivors benefits he received until his 18th birthday, he paid for his education at Miami University in Ohio, where he completed a bachelor's degree in economics and political science in 1992."

ironic that it was social security survivor benifits that helped him pay for his education.

4. Obviously Ryan never did well in college. The homework ALONE can equal 3 jobs.
What a fucking idiot.

5. "the truth is he's stone-cold ignorant"
Economics Nobel laureate Paul Krugman to white-affirmative-action frat boy econ major Paul Ryan:

http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/07/30/dont-know-much-about-economics/

(...)

I don’t even know where to start with this. What does Ryan think the fed funds rate is? (It’s the rate at which banks lend each other money overnight, usually to help meet reserve requirements.) He obviously doesn’t know the the Fed funds rate basically equals the return on federal paper, so that raising that rate would make banks more, not less, likely to stay with that federal paper. I’m sure someone will try to come up with a reason why Ryan is being smart here, but the truth is that he’s stone-cold ignorant.

8. i have had many conversations with professors who complain and worry
about their students being too tired and distracted to focus in class because they have to work full time WHILE they are going to college to afford it. it's counter productive for our society to force students to be working zombies... half time work builds character, full time during college AND excessive private student loans that can never be forgiven.. is just simply indentured servitude, debt slavery. There is real economic and social VALUE in educating our youth, but we have undermined that value by not giving them the time to study and turning educaion (particulary for profit education) into a money making opportunity for banks and institutions.. it's shameful and short term stupidity.
