Judge issues restraining order against Zuccotti Park evictions
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2011/11/15/judge-issues-restraining-order-against-zuccotti-park-evictions/

After ordering the eviction of protesters from Zuccotti Park, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Tuesday explained that the park would temporarily remain closed due to a court order that restrained the city from closing the park.

A ruling issued by Judge Lucy Billings in the hours the park evictions, said that the city is “prohibited from: “(a) Evicting protesters from Zuccotti Park and/or (b) Enforcing the “rules” published after the occupation began or otherwise preventing protesters from re-entering the park with tents and other property previously utilized,” the ruling said.

At a press conference Tuesday morning, Bloomberg said that protesters had only been “temporarily” asked to leave the park “to reduce the risk of confrontation and to minimize destruction in the surrounding neighborhood.”

“We are now ready to open the park but understand that there is a court order, which we have not yet actually received, enjoining us from enforcing Brookfield’s rules,” the mayor explained. “And so the park will remain closed until we can clarify that situation. But I want to stress that our intention was to reopen the park and to let people go in and express their first amendment rights to protest.”

Bloomberg's rules seem to contradict the judges orders...

2. Well, Bloomberg has the liar's press on his side, so he will
probably come out smelling like roses.

We need to establish free-speech parks everywhere.

When we lived in London in the 1970s, Hyde Park's Speakers' Corner was a popular place for soapbox preachers and the disenchanted. We need to establish Speakers' Corners in every American city -- places where anyone can go, take a soap box and just talk his heart out to whomever.

Also, we need to return to the model of the Iroquois Council which, in fact, inspired some of our Founding Fathers.

Looks like the attorneys for the protestors will be returning to court very soon to get clarification so that Mayor Bloomberg, with his limited intelligence, can understand what it means to be served with a court order telling him to open the park for free speech.

3. and here, I thought enforcement of laws passed after something was "criminalized"
was not constitutional ...

Kinda like passing a constitutional amendment making having only one parent be a citizen of the U.S. cause you to be ineligible for being President, and then throwing President Obama in jail for it ...

Of course, when it came to enforcing laws already in the books when the crime happens is only when you're not a Republican ...
