Press Bias in the Kerry Swift-Boat Story
August 11 , 2004

The mainline press exhibits its bias over and over, while piously claiming to be neutral.
Case in point: For months the press screamed in headlines and newscasts that President Bush was “AWOL” from National Guard duty 30 years ago.
The charges which were aired in the 2000 election, not only weren’t substantiated, they seemed to materialize out of the vapor. There was not a shred of evidence. In fact, the charges were based entirely on the absence of evidence: No record can be found, therefore …
Such blatant bias in advancing such a dubious story is inexcusable.
Then as the 2004 election neared, the press reflexively resurrected the same old, tired, unproven charges yet again for another several–month run. Nothing new. Still nothing proven. Nothing substantiated. But that didn’t stop the noble press from pursuing “the public’s right to know.”
