www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/iraq_casualties.htm lists 1012 American troops having been killed in Iraq to date. The one thousand mark has been somewhat touted over the last several months as a threshhold for America's tolerance level. Thirty-five confirmed deaths are being withheld from the usual media count pending notification of next of kin, thus keeping the reported number under one thousand. Perhaps the next of kin will be notified after the election.
