Mike O'Neill typed "Anybody but Bush" into an Internet search engine and found a local meeting for supporters of Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry.
O'Neill and his wife, Miriam, who live in Henrico County, began attending the monthly gatherings for Kerry. They discovered the meetings through the Web site Meetup.com, which links people and interests around the world.
The O'Neills first attended the Kerry Meetups at the Borders bookstore in western Henrico. When the meetings became too big for the store, they moved to the Health South Re-habilitation Facility off Libbie Avenue.
Now O'Neill is one of three coordinators of the Kerry Meetup in Richmond, which takes place the fourth Thursday night of every month, along with similar meetings in hundreds of cities across the United States.
