I have mentioned this same problem, but not with Lyons' elegant succinctness. Most of us Americans are relatively honest, straightforward and believe in teh ideals expressed in teh Constitution and what we aer taught in High School history classes. We tend to assume that others share these values. Thus, most just cannot believe that the administration - which is supposed to be trying to do the best for the people - is as deeply corrupt and manipulative as it is.
