What do you think?
*** Dear Editors:
Thank you for your excellent online coverage of today's indictments, and for the related story you ran about the decision the U.S. House Ethics Committee must make this week about the complaint against Representative Tom DeLay.
You correctly noted that "the 10-member committee, equally divided by party, could send the allegations to an investigative subcommittee, dismiss some allegations while ordering a probe of others or throw out the complaint."
However, you neglected to inform your readers that four of the five Republicans on the committee have received money from Mr. DeLay or from the PAC that he formed. It is a sad day for America when a representative accused of engaging in corrupt "pay-to-play" politics and illegal money laundering can also pay off the members of the "jury" that is responsible for investigating him. Perhaps our nation's watchdogs are all gnawing on the bones DeLay has thrown them. No wonder half of Americans don't vote, if this is the ethical standard we can expect from our Congressmen.
It is time to clean up the People's House. We must insist on a full investigation into the charges against Tom DeLay, including the appointment of an independent counsel with subpoena powers. And we must cast our votes for candidates who will favor transparency and a higher ethical standard in government.
Sincerely,
name Houston, Texas

I like it when the letters try to bring focus back to the issues at hand.

| 5. Real Support for Our Troops |
|
Did anyone see this yet???
Its a Blue Ribbon basically in response to the Yellow Ribbons you see on almost every car lately... What's your opinion. i think its worth a look.
This is from their website: www.troopsribbon.com
Why we did this Like the majority of citizens in this country, in light of the fact that over 1000 troops have been killed in battle, the most appropriate way to support our troops is to bring them home as soon as possible. Our troops should be out of harms way back in the United States with their families. The death of American forces should and can be avoided.
In addition, for many of us the yellow "Support our Troops" ribbon does not accurately represent the generalized feeling of Americans to support soldiers at war. Over the course of the past year, a need for an additional voice has become clear. There is room for a new message.
Our goal is to create an alternative and supporting voice. Yes we support our troops, but simply put, we want our loved ones home as soon as possible. We created the Blue Ribbon to voice this opinion.

| 6. I love this concept.... |

but I wish they'd picked a brighter color that might stand out more. I've seen yellow, pink, and red white and blue ribbons. Plus probably a few others. They all blend together.
I think a bright purple ribbon might say it all. Every day our troops are being killed and maimed, and the psychological damage to them is immeasurable.
Plus, the Repugs enjoy mocking our purple hearts. THIS purple ribbon, like all those others that were given out (including to Kerry) would make a greater statement than that anemic blue that they used.
Just my 2 cents. FSC
