And excellent read!
Muriel Gray says PM’s anguish over Iraq kidnap is inflammatory tabloid spinOddly, the same demand for consensual mourning and emotional agony is not requested over the messy deaths of innocent Iraqi civilians; children, men and women going about their desperate business of survival, trying to forge lives in this Hades created by Bush and Blair, where justice is so far from being a reality that the mulch provided to nurture murdering, psychotic bastards like the ones who kidnapped Mr Bigley, stays rich and substantial.
We hear no apologies or regret for the people who once lived in a house with their children, had a job, a business maybe, relatives nearby and a community that may or not have been anti-Saddam but would have definitely functioned as a community, upon whom bombs fell and stripped them of everything they had. Dead wife, dead husband, dead children. No job to go to, no hospital or drugs to treat the wounded, no shops, no nothing.
But curiously no tabloid or satellite news channel featured Blair’s “agony” over such events. Iraqis? Sod ’em. The soul searching can only begin when cunning psychos capture a Brit and make him plead for his life directly to the Prime Minister. That’s what gets Tony’s hands wringing when little else seems to have done the trick.
So, in the face of such spectacular competition from those murdering PR manipulators in masks, how can the rest of us ever hope to get Blair’s attention. How big does the megaphone have to be to help us shout, “Hoi, you in the unconvincing, studied crumpled face! Have you no bloody compassionate imagination, you moron? Do all your emotions need to be prompted by the Daily Mail? Does your priest or vicar, or whoever your choice of placebo in a frock is that you visit every Sunday, still tell you that God is on your side? Do you never question why ordinary Iraqis, who must equally detest the actions of these Neanderthal monsters, are not helping you find and apprehend them?”
No point. He’s not listening. Hate is a very destructive emotion.
