In fact, the reason I supported Clinton was because Al Gore was chosen as his VP. But times have changed, Al wasn't out there wanting it and I have moved on. I wish any Democratic candidate luck. I'm supporting Dean.

It remains unclear who's got a better shot at this: Gore or Dean. I suspect we'll know better in a couple of months.
A year ago, I thought Gore could be our salvation. Now I'm not so sure. Not because he's got anything wrong with him, but because I suspect the "attack machine" would hit him more effectively than they could hit Dean, since there's so much Republican anti-Gore material already out there.

Whether or not you said it, you must accept that your original post prompted a discussion.
That tends to be what happens here on DU. It's happened to me many times. Unfortunately you can't "steer" a DU discussion even if you're the original poster.
I understand that it's not what you intended, but you should consider that the phenomenon at work here is actually the great strength of this kind of internet community.

Agreed.
As Gore Vidal has stated, and it's becoming increasingly clear that he's correct, the Reps and Dems are just the two branches of the one right wing party.
But (me talking now) at least some Dems at least try to pretend they're not Repugs. Lieberman doesn't even bother to pretend. He's disgusting.

Best possible ticket out there. They'd deliver the South, would deliver the New England states, the Midwest, and the Pacific Coast. Appoint Mondale as Secretary of State and I'm there.

There'd be no question about Homeland Security or War on Terror with those two in charge.
I could go for it!

Would Dick decline to debate? Would he debate from a remote location (perhaps his hole in the ground on the Naval Observatory grounds?) Maybe he'll debate while sitting on Timmy Russerts lap?
