| More ways we can protect marriage |
|
Since so many of our elected officials think it is the government's job to protect the institution of marriage from homosexuals. ( though I still don't understand why they are so threatening to it), I propose amending the Constitution further, to keep even more groups of undesirables from poisoning the pure well of marriage....
therefore, the following groups of people should be denied the right to marry:
1.Alcoholics 2. Adulterers 3. People who have been divorced 4. Illegal drug users 5. Child molesters 6. Convicted Felons 7. Passive agressives
After all, marriage to someone who falls under any of the above descriptions is very much more likely to fail, and that would be bad for marriage. Perhaps atheists should also not be allowed to marry, as it is "sacred" according to Chimpy. I am sure I have left out some categories, but I think this is a good start to a list that can help our brave officials to come up with a more comprehensive protection of marriage. Plus, then they can't be accused of gay bashing, because they will be taking away Constitutional rights from many other groups as well. What do you think?

..and I think one can make a case that heterosexuals shouldn't marry unless it's the traditional man and wife and wife and wife...
Heterosexual couples make up 100% of the divorce cases in this country. Obvioulsy Heterosexual couples cannot be trusted with a sacred institution like marriage!
;-)
I seriously wonder if many on the right have become so used to grabbing any rationlization to do what what they want to do that they are no longer able to actually recognize this. So many of what the Right wants to do would actually cuase the opposite of what they claim they stand for that it can't be a coincidence.
or is that just me seeing that?
Those that are against gay marriage should admit they don't like gay people and be honest about it.

| 3. Easiest thing: a consitutional amendment banning divorce and annulments |

In a abusive relationship and want to get divorced? Nope, sorry! Got to preserve the "sanctity of marriage"!
Some stupid, slutty singer (here's a hint. It's Britney Spears) goes to Vegas and gets married and then, 55 hours later, wants to back out of it? Tough shit, Britney! You're stuck with him!
Some asshole right winger Republican (here's a hint: It's Newt Gingrich), has an affair with another woman, and wants to go to the hospital to serve his wife, who's dealing with cancer, divorce papers? Nope, Newtie! You've got to stay married to your wife!
See how easy this is.

post menopausal women...no chance of conceiving children, so, therefore, useless and undesirable.

I always love to throw that argument at the wingnuts when they start screaming about how marriage is a sacred, necessary institution for preserving the family and raising children, and the only acceptable way to do so, etc., etc.
One wingnut had a letter in USA Today yesterday about how traditional marriage is necessary for acceptable procreation and raising children and maintaining the family, blahblahblah, the usual bullshit. So, then, by that reasoning, why do we allow older couples beyond their childbearing years to marry? Why do we allow those who are sterile for whatever reason (hysterectomy, etc.) to marry? Why do we allow those who have no intention of ever having children to marry?
Wingnuts then splutter and stammer, because you've ripped the rug out from their rationale, and their preprogrammed robot rushbot brains can't figure out what to say or think next. Of course, what I'd like to know is why we allow the government to decide for us who can and cannot be married in the first damn place.
STUPID FUCKING IGNORANT HYPOCRITICAL HATEFUL WINGNUTS!

| 8. What they don't know is...it used to be on the books that way |
|
If you were known to be infertile, you couldn't marry in some states in the past...and in others, it was a legal reason for an annulment (that means there "was no marriage" in the eyes of the law). I believe medical exams were mandated in some cases....
Gee, if folks want to commit and take on the legal responsibilities for each other (as well as the risk of a messy divorce if it doesn't work)..LET THEM.

slam against those who are divorced, he/she was being facetious in an attempt to show just how ridiculous these wingnuts are when it comes to gay marriage and their fear of it somehow "corrupting traditional marriage." Dems have NOTHING on the repuke politicians when it comes to divorce.
