| LIEberman was TOAST before today; he is CHARCOAL now... |
|
Edited on Sun Aug-03-03 02:19 PM by TruthIsAll
after disparaging that great American, George McGovern. And saying that a Dean candidacy would set back the party 30 years.
He is bitter, he is a loser, and he knows it. But as I said in a recent post, I would even vote for Holy Joe if I had no other choice. Fortunately, I will have one.
Harry Truman would absolutely pummel this DINO.
Look, I am not for Dean - yet. But we need someone who is NOT afraid to go for the Bush jugular by telling the damn TRUTH. Whoever will, gets my vote.
BTW, my definition of a Liberal: ONE WHO REASONABLY AND LOGICALLY PRESENTS AN ARGUMENT, WITHOUT RESORTING TO LIES AND BADMOUTHING OTHERS, AND WHO BELIEVES THAT, ULTIMATELY, SEEKING THE TRUTH FOR THE COMMON GOOD IS WHAT THIS NATION IS ALL ABOUT. AND WHO BELIEVES THE GOVERNMENT REPRESENTS ALL THE PEOPLE.
METHINKS IT IS HARD TO LOSE WITH THAT PHILOSOPHY.

One thing that has turned me off about Dean is his attacks and on other candidates. What Lieberman did today was just as bad.

under any circumstances. We already have a rethug in the WH...we don't need another one.
Of course that's easy to say...he won't get the nomination.
Rumor has it that his staff is demoralized because of lack of fundraising results. They can't get money. He's toast. He'll be gone in a couple of months.
His appearance on Blitzer's show today just proves his desperation.
Go away, Joe.

His enthusiasm for this war and his stance on freedom of religion are deal breakers for me. Although I like Dean's in-your-face approach to GeoW, I could easily support anyone who will ask the Thief in Chief the tough questions and keep pounding him until he implodes. Lieberman is not that man.

the deaths of our soldiers were mentioned in the context of whether the war was necessary, he completely left the deaths out of his equation. I guess when one is used to having others fighting their battles for them, those deaths become less important.
Fuck Joe Lieberman.

| 28. His record on domestic policy issues really _isn't_ Republican-like... |
|
I'm not a big fan of Lieberman, as his sanctimony and general style bug me and he's a bit too hawkish for my taste, but his voting record on domestic issues is actually pretty good. His environmental record, for example, is particularly impressive (League of Conservation Voters rating of 88, where the Democratic Senate average is 72 and the Republican Senate average is 13). And it doesn't make sense for him to switch parties on foreign-policy grounds alone; though it's in the minority at the moment, there is a hawkish tradition in the Democratic Party, if you think of Scoop Jackson or even JFK. Lieberman may be a moderate Democrat, and not one of my top choices for the primary, but he's _not_ a Republican, and he's less conservative than a lot of the Southern Democrats (not just the pure DINOs like Miller but the ones like Breaux). He'd be a lot better than Bush, and if he does win the primary (though I hope he won't), I'd vote for him in the general election in a heartbeat.

They were showing a clip of Lieberman and Tweety could be heard in the background calling Lieberman "boring."
I have no use for Lieberman. He hurt the Dems during the Florida recount with his stupid statements.

They are abandoning their support of Lieberman and are forced to the left by moving to Kerry. They saw the writing on the wall and it was not in the center. No compromising centrist will win the Dem nomination.

he's been shocking me right along. Not having known what his real politics were. I liked him at first because he was Gore's running mate but even before his stab in the back style came out I was bored to tears by the site of him.
Dean says in his Austin, Texas TV ad that it's about time someone stood up to bush and his policies. :kick:

|
I hear what you say, and I agree with most of it. Except for the part that says he's toast. No doubt, the left wing of our party will vote for Dean or Kucinich. However, there are a lot of non-lefties who tend to favor his politics. And there just may be enough of them to give him the nomination. I don't think it's likely, but it is possible.

The time for that was during his pathetic performance in the vice-presidential debate with Cheney. It's been all downhill from there with sad-sack Joe.

it is his nomination which would lead to the party suffering historic losses because overall he would be a parrot of Bush and try to find "conciliation". Could you imagine a presidential debate with Joe and Bush? think of the debate with Cheney times three.
