| Why the hell am I listening to reich wing radio? |
|
I don't get it. I was even toning down on the NPR. I had heard Hannity interview Howard Dean in NH and thought it was somewhat fair. Next thing you know I'm checking to hear what they're talking about here and there. All it does is make me scared and angry. Why the hell am I doing this to myself? ANyone?

Welcome to DU :hi:
I can't even watch Chimpy.
But just wait until 3/31 when we have Al Franken and Randi Rhodes on Air America.

And, sometimes Fright Wing radio is hard to avoid. If I go out on a lunchtime errand, there is not much else to listen to...
We get to hear what we're up against, a la Limbaugh implying that John Kerry had the late Senator Heinz killed. And, if you laugh at that, wasn't Limbaugh the driving force behind Scaife's manufactured Vince Foster BS that was investigated 5 friggin times?

The REICH wing WANTS you to listen and complain to us at DU.
You are SPREADING THEIR MESSAGE, one way or another.
Just imagine if people here DIDN'T listen to Rush and others....their views would never reach our community.
We'd hear about them less.
They'd be confined to their own listeners and their poor families and friends.
The "knowing your enemy" argument, to me, is just an excuse. We KNOW their views and we KNOW their politics.
Why democrats feel the need to listen and spread around their spin and talking points is beyond me.

It's not good for you. Their negativity will wear you down and it is addictive. Plus it stops the solution of getting rid of them. You can spend so much time frustrated, angry and down and that is exactly what the right wants to wear you down. Stop listening Then you can focus on the way to get rid of them---you will probably have a great Epiphany after you let them go. Your knowledge of them and giving yourself a break will bring great ideas and solutions...

Either that or you have that morbid curiosity in you that also makes you slow down to see car wrecks and other scenes of disaster.

especially when you can get a nutshell view of the garbage here without having to soil your ears.
Why don't you try excluding Faux in total and just wait for Al and the gang to grace the airwaves?

I find it helps sharpen my arguments...sharpens my eye in finding their fallacies...and reinforces why I'm voting for the Dems.
But I can't listen to it EVERY DAY, no. I have to do it in moderation.
Hannity is like a junkyard dog. Yip, yip, yip constantly. I'd put my eardrums out if I had to listen to that every day.

because I'm too cheap to pay the monthly charge for satellite radio. You spend around 2 hours a day in your car, and you don't want to listen to your own CDs all the time, NPR is on part 47 of the History of Banjo Music in America, the umpteen Clear Channel stations, all ads, all the time, the College Station is playing an uninterrupted Chainsaw Goth Hour of Pain, so you punch AM. Between the stations I receive, I can usually manage to find Rush, Dr. Laura, some local version of Rush, and maybe Boortz for balance (hah!). Then before you know it, you are getting spun by their spin, or the unspoken assumptions behind their BS is creeping into your point of view...
So I stopped listening to it. Now I just drive and try to think at least one day a week. It was painful at first, but I found that I could look at some trees and maybe think about climbing trees as a youth, and went from there. And for the other days, books on tape.

i don't buy into the idea that me listening to them somehow "helps" them. i often listen to rush at lunch, it has become kind of a hobby. I enjoy hearing how things are distorted coming through the rush filter. these guys are on a sinking ship. the days of right wing "entertainment" are winding down.
I don't beleive exposing their hypocritical "intelectually dishonest" opinions helps them to pass on their message.
my girlfriend however can't even stand to hear these types utter a word, it really gets under her skin. I listen to people drivel about stupid stuff most of the day, rush, hannitey et al. are just more stupid to go with my day of stupid.

When you listen to hate radio replace the * with Clinton, Repugnican with Democrat and so on...turn the entire diatribe 180 on its head...it gets more and more amusing and then makes all the right wing hypocrisies even more obvious.

and it just gets boring.
My question is, how can you put up with all that ads? I don't watch or listen to commercial media because I feel personally insulted by the ads.
